It shouldn’t be! Why We The People have had enough, that is! The following two stories should say all that needs to be said:
In the first story, we read how an un-named Texas “legislator” has introduced a bill to make the bolo the official tie of the state of Texas. The Texas legislature meets for 140 days every second year (plus in special sessions as called by the Governor). Isn’t it just wonderful to know that one of Texas’ top 182 rulers thinks that the bolo is such an important issue?
Not to be outdone, the second story tells how our newly elected replacement who’s serving out Tom Delay’s term in Congress will have the opportunity to cast as one of her first votes in this lame duck session a YEA or a NAY as to whether the Congress should recognize all that the Christmas tree industry has done for this country. Now you know why we call them “lame” ducks! Should put ‘em all in a row and run a skewer thru ‘em…
All my ranting and raving aside, there is a glorious upside to these stories: as long as they’re doing their dance of delirium, the Texas and US legislatures will not be doing any real harm to We The People. Not that they’ll be doing any good for us, either; but, as they say, not even one good law is better than even one bad law. We can only hope…
